Due to a lack of space
A local emergency shelter is sounding the alarm after turning away 25 people last month due to a lack of space.
The Cooperative Care Centre welcomed 135 individuals in August, including 102 men, 33 women, and 4 youth — all in need of basic shelter and support.
But with rising demand and limited resources, the shelter says it simply couldn’t help everyone. "Homelessness doesn’t take a break," a spokesperson said.
The Centre is urging the community to help ensure no one is left out in the cold — or the heat.
“Every person deserves a safe place to sleep,” they added.
The shelter says with more support, they can meet growing needs and help even more people during difficult times.

Together, the Centre says, Brockville can make sure no one is left behind.
