Ontario’s Leeds and Grenville fire departments will receive $401,404 through the province’s Fire Protection Grant, officials announced yesterday. The funding will support local initiatives to improve safety for firefighters who risk their lives to protect communities.

The grant increase is part of the provincial government’s decision to double the Fire Protection Grant program from $10 million to $20 million. Earlier this year, government representatives met with local fire chiefs and deputy chiefs, who identified funding as a top priority for municipal departments.

The funding announcement was hosted by the Brockville Fire Department and attended by local fire chiefs, deputies, and municipal leaders. Officials said the investment will help departments purchase equipment, enhance training programs, and strengthen emergency response capabilities.

The government emphasized that these grants recognize the dedication of local firefighters and ensure communities remain safe while supporting the men and women who serve on the front lines.
