The man was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of recognizance
A 37-year-old Brockville man is facing charges following a concerning incident involving a weapon on May 8.
At approximately 11:00 a.m., Brockville police were alerted to a male in the area of Front Avenue who was reportedly carrying a folding pocket knife and engaging in confrontational behavior with members of the public.
Witnesses reported that during these interactions, the man made alarming remarks, questioning whether people believed he would refrain from using the knife to cause harm.
Police quickly responded and located the individual. Upon arrest, officers discovered he was bound by a court order that required him to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
A search revealed the folding knife in his possession, which was subsequently seized.
The man was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of recognizance.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing. No injuries were reported.
