Police say the man’s name will not be released to respect the privacy of his family
The Leeds County OPP is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian on Highway 15 near Elgin in the Township of Rideau Lakes.
Shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, officers responded to reports that a southbound SUV had struck a pedestrian. The victim, a 43-year-old man from Kingston, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV was not injured.
The OPP’s East Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team, along with the Technical Collision Investigation Unit and a Collision Reconstructionist, assisted at the scene. The highway was closed for several hours while investigators worked to determine the cause of the crash.
Police say the man’s name will not be released to respect the privacy of his family. Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPP or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
