Police issue urgent back-to-school warning as students return to class

Kids return to school day

As the new school year begins, Brockville Police are reminding drivers, parents, and students to stay alert and put safety first. Officers will be patrolling school and community safety zones to help protect children as they head back to class.

Drivers are being told to slow down in school zones, stop for school buses when red lights are flashing, and watch carefully for children crossing roads or walking between parked cars.

Parents and students are also being urged to use crosswalks, look both ways before crossing the street, and stick to sidewalks when possible. Wearing bright or reflective clothing can also help children stay visible to drivers.

Police say community cooperation is key to preventing accidents and keeping students safe. With thousands of children back in school this week, they’re asking everyone to stay focused, follow the rules, and help make the school year a safe one for all.
