A step in the right direction for Prescott
Mayor Shankar, members of Council, and MP Michael Barrett joined Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands on Saturday, July 5, to celebrate the official groundbreaking of Lockett Place, a new affordable housing project at 360 Dibble Street.
Located behind Town Hall, the site is named in honour of Ruth Lockett, a former Prescott Councillor, business owner, and long-time community volunteer. Lockett was known for her strong support of Habitat for Humanity and affordable housing.
Lockett Place will include four semi-detached homes, offering two- and three-bedroom units for local families. The development aims to support inclusive, safe, and affordable living in the community.
The project is made possible thanks to the hard work of Habitat for Humanity Thousand Islands staff and volunteers, local board and committee members, donors, and community sponsors.
Construction is set to continue over the coming months, marking an important step toward solving the region’s housing challenges.
