On Thursday, December 4th in Spencerville
The Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Community Awards for 2025 were held Thursday night in Spencerville, celebrating residents who make a difference in local life.
Among the honourees was longtime volunteer Sheila Bush, who was named the 2025 Citizen of the Year. She was also chosen as the township’s Senior of the Year in late June.
Earlier this year, Bush was honoured as Ontario Senior of the Year, highlighting her decades of service, leadership, and athletic accomplishments.
Originally from New Brunswick, she moved to Ontario to study nursing and later worked more than 25 years as a labour and delivery nurse at Winchester District Memorial Hospital.
Bush highlighted some of the moments that inspired her deep community involvement.
She said she was very proud and excited to receive such a meaningful award. She also spoke about what she loves most about the community.
She offered a few closing thoughts.
Bush continues to support the Catholic Women’s League, local curling, and the regional Highland Games, while earning major senior golf titles across Canada.
Her dedication, energy, and kindness remain an inspiration to residents of all ages.
