She now faces charges of theft under $5,000
A 31-year-old woman is facing multiple charges after fleeing the Brockville Superstore on April 29. Around 6:45 p.m., police were alerted to the woman, who was seen concealing merchandise in her bag without attempting to pay.
After being confronted by the store's Loss Prevention Officer, she initially cooperated and returned the stolen items. However, when she learned that police were notified, she attempted to flee the scene with a male accomplice.
Officers quickly responded and apprehended both individuals nearby. Upon arrest, it was revealed that the woman had a bench warrant for failing to attend court. She now faces charges of theft under $5,000, escape lawful custody, and two counts of failing to comply with probation.
She was held for a bail hearing.
