Police say a 39-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a shoplifting incident led to a physical struggle at Canadian Tire on Parkedale Avenue on April 9.
Officers were called around 1:15 p.m. after reports that a loss prevention officer was attempting to detain a suspect. During the altercation, a pistol fell from the man’s waistband onto the floor.
Police arrived quickly and took the man into custody. The weapon was later identified as a BB pistol and was not used to threaten anyone during the incident.
A search of the suspect found a substance believed to be methamphetamine and concealed merchandise valued at about $143. The items were recovered.
No serious injuries were reported.
