Small local businesses face added trade barrier strain

A serious economic issue

With the economy in an uncertain state, small businesses in Canada continue to pay added costs that come with interprovincial trade barriers.

The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) continues to advocate for the reduction of these barriers, saying change could bring relief to small-scale enterprises across the country.

SeoRhin Yoo, Senior Policy Analyst for Interprovincial Affairs at CFIB, said removing or reducing internal trade barriers would be a positive step for businesses, especially given current economic pressures.

CFIB is a non-profit, grassroots organization that regularly communicates with governments on policies affecting small business.

Yoo explained that the group has been actively pushing for freer trade between provinces.

The Province continues to work to reach new internal trade deals to soften the blow of US tariffs.
