Spencerville Arena saw strong early support Saturday as the community rallied behind its bid for Kraft Hockeyville.

About 150 people were inside when doors opened, with a steady flow of visitors continuing through the morning.

The campaign marks the 20th anniversary of the national contest, which helps fund arena upgrades across Canada.

Opened in 1967, the Spencerville Arena is the oldest of two rinks in Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Township and hosts both minor and adult hockey.
