Temperatures expected to exceed 40 degrees celsius
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Brockville as high temperatures and humidity grip the region this week.
The City is reminding residents to protect their health, as extreme heat can lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke. Everyone is at risk, especially children, seniors, and those without air conditioning.
To help residents stay cool, several public spaces are open, including the Brockville Memorial Centre, Rotary Park Splash Pad, and the Brockville Railway Tunnel, which stays naturally cool year-round. Local beaches at St. Lawrence Park and Centeen Park are also options for capable swimmers.
The Brockville Public Library also offers air-conditioned relief during its open hours.
Health officials recommend staying indoors, drawing blinds, and taking cool showers. Fans help at night, but should not be the main cooling method in extreme heat.
