The pride of New Zealand: Marty Lee is embracing his role as head coach of the Braves

The Braves are off to a 2-0 start

At age 36, Auckland, New Zealand native Marty Lee has already accomplished a lot in the game of hockey.

His career as a player took him all around the world, including an opportunity to represent his home country on the world stage where we won a gold medal at the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) U-20 Division III World Championships in the 2007-08 season.

Marty's coaching career involves time overseas as well starting with the Vierumäki Sports Institute of Finland, where he learned under some of hockey's brightest minds from the Finnish National Hockey Program. For over nine years now, Marty has successful owned and operated his own program out of Montreal called, ML Hockey Development.

After spending time in various coaching roles with the Jr. B Tikis and the Brockville Braves, Marty was excited to  find out this past summer from Braves co-owner Dustin Traylen that he would be the team's head coach and general manager for the 2025-26 season.

With wins over Carleton Place and Nepean, Marty's been impressed with their start.

Marty expects a hard game tonight (Sep. 26) against the Pembroke Lumber Kings.

Puck drop is 7:30 at the Brockville Memorial Centre.
