Police say the driver suffered facial cuts but refused medical treatment
A single-vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer caused long delays for drivers on Highway 401 westbound Thursday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police say the truck overturned around 5:15 a.m. between Prescott and Maitland, forcing a lane closure that lasted more than five hours.
First responders worked at the scene while traffic backed up during the morning commute.
Police say the driver suffered facial cuts but refused medical treatment.
At 8 a.m., OPP shut down the highway completely in both directions for an environmental cleanup tied to an earlier incident in the same area. That full closure lasted just over an hour.
Traffic was limited to one lane after reopening and fully resumed just after 10 a.m.
Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
Drivers are reminded to follow all detour signs and use caution in construction or collision zones.
No charges have been laid.
