Still trail provincial results in major EQAO report
Students in the Upper Canada District School Board are showing steady improvement, but new EQAO results reveal they continue to fall below the provincial average in almost every testing category.
The latest numbers compare scores across Ontario and show the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est, which operates Académie catholique Ange-Gabriel in Brockville, outperforming both the province and UCDSB in every area measured.
In Grade 3, UCDSB students scored below the provincial average in reading, writing and math. Grade 6 results showed a mixed picture, with UCDSB matching the provincial average in writing but falling behind in reading and especially math, where only 43 per cent met the standard.
Challenges continued in Grade 9 math and Grade 10 literacy, where UCDSB students again scored well under the Ontario average.
Despite the lower results, the board says scores have improved in every category over the past three school years, showing signs of long-term progress.
