United Counties of Leeds Grenville to determine homeless shelter's fate today

The meeting is set to begin this morning at 9 a.m.

The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville's Council will vote on whether or not funding for Brockville's Co-Operative Care Centre will be extended until March 31, 2026.

The recommendation for extended funding was passed earlier this month after a community rally was performed.

Claudette Boivin, who participated in said rally on Nov. 4, shared how the centre has helped people close to her.

Tanya Crosbie, another supporter, said we need the CCC for the winter months.

The 28-bed shelter operated by the Brockville Housing Partnership, provides vital services for vulnerable residents.

If Counties' Council votes against the extension, the centre could be in danger of closing by the end of the year.

The meeting is set to begin this morning at 9 a.m.
