Clark says he relies on the service to get to Queen's Park
Local leaders are speaking out after Via Rail announced they will be cancelling several Eastern Ontario stops as part of a new three-month pilot project starting Sept. 29.
Communities like Brockville will lose key morning service. Some passengers may be rebooked on later trains, but only if space allows.
MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, Steve Clark says like many, he too relies on the service.
Clark says Via Rail has been good to consult with communities and politicians about decisions in the past, but this time they didn't.
Clark adds he fully supports LGTIRL MP Michael Barrett's efforts with other MPs to reverse this decision.
Via Rail says it will review customer feedback and ridership before deciding if the pilot continues.
