From June 28 to July 6
The Ontario government is inviting Canadians to celebrate Canada Day by fishing for free from June 28 to July 6.
During this special week, all Canadian residents can fish in Ontario without buying a license. It’s part of the province’s Family Fishing Week, which encourages people of all ages to enjoy the outdoors and try fishing.
Minister of Natural Resources Mike Harris says it’s the perfect time to cast a line with friends and family while exploring Ontario’s great fishing spots.
Fishing is an important part of the province’s economy and culture. Events like Family Fishing Week support local tourism and give first-time anglers a chance to try something new without the usual cost.
Participants must still follow Ontario’s fishing rules, including conservation license limits, size restrictions, and respecting sanctuaries.
For more details on regulations and where to fish, visit the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources website.
