The largest capital project ever undertaken by the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville
The fundraising campaign for the new G. Tackaberry and Family Home in Athens has reached 82 per cent of its $3 million goal, thanks to strong support from community donors.
With $2.4 million raised so far, the fundraising team celebrated on April 15 by recognizing 14 individuals and businesses for contributing $178,000. Four major donors gave $123,000 combined, including Gordon and Patricia DeRoos and Grenville Mutual Insurance.
The “Room to Donate” campaign added $55,000 in naming donations, with several local churches, businesses, and families stepping up.
Construction on the new 192-bed home is 96 per cent complete, with move-in expected later this summer. The new three-storey, six-wing building will replace the current 60-bed Maple View Lodge.
With a total cost of over $86 million, it’s the largest capital project ever undertaken by the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville. The current fundraising total stands at $2,478,582.
