Patients who are most critically ill are treated first, meaning others may face longer waits while staff prioritize urgent cases
Brockville General Hospital is facing significant overcrowding, with occupancy reaching 163 per cent and 12 patients admitted without beds.
The hospital says all inpatient units and the Emergency Department are experiencing higher-than-normal occupancy, resulting in longer wait times for patients.
Staff are working to provide quality care despite the difficult conditions. However, the hospital is asking residents with non-urgent medical concerns to consider other options before visiting the Emergency Department.
These include contacting a primary care provider, visiting a local pharmacy, using the East Region Virtual Care Clinic or calling Health811 for health advice.
Residents can also visit Brockville General Hospital's Right Care page to find the most appropriate place to receive treatment.
The hospital is also reminding the public to be patient and kind toward health-care workers, who are working under stressful circumstances.
