Strike deadline looms as Leeds and Grenville agencies brace for possible shutdown

Negotiations are ongoing as the Monday deadline approaches

Community health and social service workers in Leeds and Grenville are facing a potential labour disruption as contract talks continue between local agencies and OPSEU/SEFPO.

Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health says a strike could begin as early as Monday, May 25 at 12:01 a.m. if no agreement is reached.

The agency says high-priority services such as group homes, treatment homes and the HART Hub would continue during any disruption. Non-critical programs including case management, psychotherapy, drop-in services, recreation, vocational, family support, housing and administrative work would be paused.

All services remain operating for now while officials prepare updates, including a triage line and community supports if a strike occurs.

Earlier, “No Board” reports triggered a countdown toward possible strike action affecting 27 agencies and more than 4,500 workers across Ontario.

Negotiations are ongoing as the May 25 deadline approaches, with both sides seeking to avoid a strike this coming week in Ontario services.
