Canadians could soon see some relief at the gas pump.
Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the federal government will suspend its gas excise tax starting April 20th, with the measure in place until September 7th.
The move comes as fuel prices in parts of the country have jumped more than 40 cents-per-litre since tensions between the United States and Iran escalated in February.
Officials say the temporary tax break is expected to lower gasoline prices by about 10 cents-per-litre, while diesel could drop roughly four cents.
