The threat was later determined to be unfounded
On Wednesday, April 29, at about 8:30 p.m., Brockville Police Service were called by Walmart staff after a bomb threat was received. The threat was similar to one reported at the same store on April 26. Officers responded quickly and worked with store staff to assess the situation and put safety measures in place.
The caller said a device had been placed in a specific area of the store. As a precaution, police kept that area clear of customers and staff while they investigated. Because it was near closing time, the store began orderly closure procedures. Police searched the area thoroughly and found no suspicious items or devices.
The threat was later determined to be unfounded. Detectives continue to investigate the source of the calls. Police say similar threats have been reported at Walmart locations in Ontario and the United States. Investigators are not sure if incidents are linked and continue probing further them.
