Augusta Fire Rescue said the milestone reflects countless evenings, weekends and hours spent training while balancing family, work and personal commitments
Augusta Fire Rescue is celebrating a major achievement after every firefighter in the department became fully compliant with Ontario Regulation 343/22 – Firefighter Certification.
The provincial regulation sets mandatory certification standards for all firefighters in Ontario, including full-time, part-time and volunteer members. The standards are designed to ensure firefighters have the knowledge, skills and abilities to serve their communities safely and effectively.
The department said earning certification as a general firefighter requires about 260 hours of training. Many members also completed additional certifications in areas including fire officer, pump operator, incident safety officer, fire investigator, fire inspector, and fire and life safety educator.
Augusta Fire Rescue said the milestone reflects countless evenings, weekends and hours spent training while balancing family, work and personal commitments.
The department thanked its members for their professionalism, dedication and commitment to excellence, saying the accomplishment reflects the pride they take in serving Augusta Township residents and ensuring the community receives highly trained emergency response when needed.
