Children’s Mental Health of Leeds and Grenville provides counseling, support for anxiety, trauma, and depression, as well as parenting resources across five locations
With school back in session across the region, stress and anxiety are once again a relevant issue for many young people.
Clinician Tyler Nagle with Children’s Mental Health of Leeds and Grenville explained that school-related anxiety does not always appear right at the start of the year.
He highlighted a couple of factors that can contribute to a rise in stress among students.
Nagle added that parents should ask questions, stay involved, and acknowledge their child’s feelings when problems arise.
A lack of sleep was pointed to as a leading cause of stress and anxiety in young people.
He added that when youth begin acting differently, it is often a signal that something deeper may be happening.
