BACLA and OPSEU Local 441 argue that current funding levels are not keeping pace with service demands
The Brockville & Area Community Living Association (BACLA) and OPSEU Local 441 are calling on Premier Doug Ford to take immediate action to help end an ongoing labour dispute affecting community living services in Brockville.
In a joint letter dated Tuesday, June 2, the organization and union urged the provincial government to provide immediate funding and long-term investments in community and social services. They said the funding is needed to support workers and help ensure people served by BACLA continue to receive care and community participation opportunities.
The letter highlights growing pressures across developmental services, including recruitment and retention challenges, rising operational costs and increasing demand for support. It also points to cost-of-living pressures facing workers, including higher housing, food and debt-related expenses.
BACLA and OPSEU Local 441 argue that current funding levels are not keeping pace with service demands. They are seeking a Bill 124 remedy and additional investments to support wage increases and the long-term sustainability of services for people with disabilities and their families.
