Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leeds and Grenville will close its doors on December 31, ending 48 years of mentoring children and youth across the region. The organization’s board and leadership team made the difficult decision after careful review, citing responsible stewardship and transparency as guiding principles.
Since 1977, the charity has helped young people reach their potential through life-changing mentoring relationships. Executive Director Bev Heuving thanked volunteers, donors, and community partners for decades of support, saying their generosity made a lasting impact.
As the organization winds down, families and youth are expected to continue receiving support through other agencies. BGC South East, formerly the Boys and Girls Club, has announced plans to expand programs to Leeds and Grenville beginning in 2026.
BBBSLG will spend the coming months managing the transition and communicating with families, volunteers, and stakeholders about next steps.
