Investigators say no devices or weapons were ever present
Police say two threatening phone calls reporting possible explosives prompted evacuations at a Walmart store on Sunday, April 26.
Officers responded around 4:30 p.m. after staff received a call from a person claiming devices were inside the building. The store was evacuated as a precaution, and police consulted the Ontario Provincial Police Explosive Disposal Unit. A full search found no suspicious items and no injuries.
A second call came in at about 8 p.m., believed to be from the same individual. Police again cleared and searched the store before confirming it was safe. Staff completed closing procedures under supervision and left without incident.
Investigators say no devices or weapons were ever present. The case remains under investigation as officers work to identify the caller. Similar reports have surfaced elsewhere, but no links have been confirmed.
