With gusts reaching 60 to 80 kilometres per hour
A sharp change in weather is expected to hit the Brockville–Prescott area late morning, bringing rapidly falling temperatures, strong winds and slippery conditions. Environment Canada says a powerful cold front will move through the region, causing rain to quickly change to flurries as temperatures drop below freezing.
Winds will shift suddenly from southerly to westerly or northwesterly, with gusts reaching 60 to 80 kilometres per hour. The strong winds may ease by this evening, but could continue overnight in far eastern Ontario.
Roads and walkways may become icy as moisture freezes, making travel difficult at times. Flurries and snow squalls are also expected behind the cold front, especially off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.
Local power outages are possible due to the gusty winds. Residents are urged to monitor forecasts and alerts from Environment Canada and use caution when travelling through tonight.
