A heat warning remains in effect for Brockville and Prescott as a multi-day heat event continues. Daytime highs are expected to reach 32 to 35 degrees Celsius, with humidex values as high as 42. Overnight temperatures will stay warm, between 20 and 23 degrees.
Environment Canada says the heat may last into tomorrow for some areas, including eastern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area. Cooler air is expected tonight but may take longer to reach some regions.
Hot, humid air may also reduce air quality and increase the risk of heat-related illnesses. People are urged to stay hydrated, check on elderly or vulnerable neighbours, and avoid outdoor activities during peak heat.
Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are medical emergencies. Signs include dizziness, nausea and confusion.
Residents should stay indoors, use fans or air conditioning, and seek public cooling centres if needed. Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles.
