The City of Brockville has declared a significant weather event based on the latest forecast, prompting new restrictions and safety reminders for residents.
The declaration took effect at 7 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 29, and will remain in place until further notice. City officials say the move allows crews additional time to respond to hazardous conditions and prioritize road maintenance during the storm.
As part of the declaration, a city-wide parking ban is now in effect. Parking is prohibited on all city streets between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. for the duration of the significant weather event. Vehicles found in violation of the ban may be ticketed or towed to allow snowplows and emergency vehicles safe access.
The city is urging residents to plan ahead, follow posted restrictions, and use caution if travel is necessary. Officials say slippery and unsafe conditions may continue as crews work to maintain roads and sidewalks.
More information about significant weather events and winter control operations is available on the city’s website.
