Officials say residents are encouraged to take the opportunity to check smoke alarms, review escape plans and stay informed as crews continue outreach efforts in the neighbourhood
Concern has been growing among residents in Brockville after several fires in the same area over the past few years, including a fast-moving blaze on Brock Street about two weeks ago.
That fire damaged two homes and displaced 10 people after spreading quickly between neighbouring properties.
Some residents have questioned whether the incidents could be linked, but Deputy Fire Chief Chris Paul of the Brockville Fire Department says the fires are not considered suspicious and there is no risk to the public.
Paul says due to the number of incidents in a small area, the fire prevention division will soon begin going door-to-door to share safety information with residents.
Officials say residents are encouraged to take the opportunity to check smoke alarms, review escape plans and stay informed as crews continue outreach efforts in the neighbourhood.
