The Brockville and Area Food Bank hopes greater public awareness and community advocacy will help leaders identify solutions and reduce food insecurity across the region
The Brockville and Area Food Bank is asking residents to help fight hunger by learning how public policies affect food insecurity in their community.
With municipal elections now over, the organization says local leaders have an important role to play in pushing for provincial changes that address the causes of hunger.
The food bank is encouraging residents to use Feed Ontario’s Hunger in My Community online tool to generate a report about how hunger affects the Brockville area.
Residents can then share their findings with their newly elected municipal councillors to help raise awareness and encourage action.
The initiative highlights how food banks alone cannot solve hunger, as factors beyond food access can contribute to the need for assistance.
The Brockville and Area Food Bank hopes greater public awareness and community advocacy will help leaders identify solutions and reduce food insecurity across the region.
