The city advises residents to cover drains if cleaning trucks are nearby
The City of Brockville says its seasonal sewer main cleaning program is now underway and will continue through August 2026 as crews work to maintain the municipal wastewater system.
The city’s Wastewater Systems Division will carry out the work between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays in selected neighbourhoods. Crews are scheduled to clean sewer mains in Zone 1-A, west of Beecher Street, and Zone 1-B, west of Windsor Drive.
Officials say the cleaning program is part of preventative maintenance aimed at removing debris such as grease, sand and wipes from sewer lines. The work is intended to prevent blockages and improve the efficiency of the wastewater collection system.
Residents in affected areas may notice bubbling or splashing in toilets, floor drains or cleanouts during the process because of high-pressure water and air moving through the pipes.
