Organizers say the goal is to keep women’s heart health visible and prioritized in Brockville and across Canada
Brockville will join communities across Canada this Friday, February 13, by lighting the Brockville Arts Centre red for Wear Red Canada Day, a national campaign focused on women’s heart and vascular health. The initiative aims to raise awareness, encourage prevention, and spark conversation around a leading health risk for women.
Heart and vascular disease remains the number one cause of death among women worldwide. Despite this, women are often under-studied, under-diagnosed, under-treated, and less aware of symptoms and risks, according to health advocates.
Residents are encouraged to take part by wearing red, sharing photos on social media using #WearRedCanada and #HerHeartMatters, and learning more about women’s heart health.
Local programming includes an information table hosted by Brockville General Hospital from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the hospital cafeteria. Nationally, the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Alliance will host a virtual webinar from noon to 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
