Matt Wren says he will not seek reelection this fall, ending his term as mayor of Brockville.
Wren said it has been an honour to serve as mayor.
He said the mayor’s role does not provide “a full time livelihood,” a key factor in his decision.
Wren said he values both his work and his role as mayor, adding neither deserves only part of his attention.
During his tenure, several projects were advanced, including renovations at the Brockville Memorial Centre, along with homelessness initiatives and the city’s strategic plan.
He said he has few regrets but wishes municipal processes could move faster and be less complex.
Wren served four years as councillor before being elected mayor in 2022. The municipal election is set for October 26.
