City officials have some thinking to do
Residents in north-end Brockville are speaking out against a plan to extend Bridlewood Drive to Centennial Road.
At a recent city council planning meeting, many said the change would turn their quiet street into a high-speed shortcut. The proposed development includes 14 semi-detached homes on currently vacant land.
Developer Marco Malovic of Bridlewood Homes applied for a zoning bylaw change and subdivision approval.
Residents, including Simon Wu, raised safety concerns due to the nearby retirement home, soccer fields, and popular walking and biking areas. Wu gathered a petition with over 180 signatures.
Doctors Denise Bowes and Siobhan Muldowney also warned about traffic dangers, especially for seniors and children.
Locals say other roads already provide safe access without creating a direct, fast route through their neighbourhood.
City officials say no decision has been made yet, and planning staff will review public input before making recommendations.
