The initiative is funded through the Counties’ Homelessness Prevention Program
The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville has opened a new warming centre to help unhoused residents stay safe this winter. The centre, located at 55 Reynolds Drive, opened Friday (Jan. 2) and will operate seven nights a week from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. until a new emergency shelter opens in spring 2026.
The facility can host up to 40 people per night and provides food, water, and washrooms. Guests can also access support services, including housing help, mental health and addiction resources, and connections through the By-Name List.
The warming centre is run in partnership with Bartimaeus, whose trained staff provide behavioural and social support, with security provided by the Commissionaires. Ontario Works staff continue daytime case management to help clients find permanent, safe housing. The initiative is funded through the Counties’ Homelessness Prevention Program.
