Brockville’s 2026 city budget is nearly finalized following extensive consultation, including 20 hours of special council meetings.
The budget includes a property tax increase, driven largely by rising policing costs. Mayor Wren explained the bottom-line impact for residents.
Wren also raised long-term concerns about infrastructure and capital projects that are underfunded.
Wren said it's impossible to right that ship all in one budget, and even though they added about three-quarters of a per cent to the tax rate for capital, they still had to defer $4 million worth of projects.
