Brockville city officials are scaling back plans for major development charge increases but a sharp price hike for builders is still possible. The city’s planning and development committee is recommending an update to its background study with less drastic increases than the initial proposal, which suggested hikes of nearly 500 per cent.
The revised plan lowers the development charge for a single detached home from $26,158 to $11,138, cutting the increase by more than half but still doubling the current rate. Non-residential charges would also rise to $7.97 per square foot.
