Brockville is set to benefit after Sail Canada awarded national funding that includes the Brockville Yacht Club in its 2026 “Sailing for All” initiative announced Friday. The program distributes $80,750 to 24-member clubs and schools across the country with support from Sport Canada’s Community Sport for All Initiative.
In Brockville, the local club will run grassroots sailing opportunities designed to reach people from underrepresented or underserved communities, including newcomers, seniors and people with disabilities.
Sail Canada launched the initiative in 2023 to reduce barriers and offer low-cost or free time on the water. Nationally, organizers say the effort has already brought more than 1,900 new participants into sailing during its first two years.
