Animal welfare groups across the country issue similar warnings each year
Brockville Animal Hospital is reminding pet owners that leaving animals in parked cars, even for a short time, can quickly become deadly as summer temperatures rise.
Veterinarians say the inside of a vehicle can heat up in minutes, even on mild days, creating dangerous conditions that can lead to heatstroke or death for pets.
Cracked windows or parking in the shade do not provide enough protection to keep animals safe.
The safest option is to leave pets at home in a cool, comfortable place if they cannot go indoors with their owners.
Animal welfare groups across the country issue similar warnings each year, stressing that heatstroke can happen faster than many people realize and can be fatal.
Brockville Animal Hospital urges the community to protect animals this summer by avoiding leaving them in vehicles and choosing safety every time.
