Crews will continue working extended hours throughout the season to ensure Brockville remains safe and accessible for residents during their daily commute
As winter continues in Brockville, workers with the City of Brockville are labouring around the clock to keep roads and sidewalks clear.
Crews face a demanding schedule that becomes even more intense when major weather events hit the region.
Phil Wood, director of operations for the City of Brockville, explained how crews are scheduled to maintain coverage across the city.
He described how operations shift during significant storms.
Wood asked residents for patience as teams work through Brockville’s many kilometres of roads and sidewalks.
He noted that sidewalk machines travel about three kilometres per hour, meaning it can take many hours to clear the city’s 112 kilometres of sidewalks.
Wood offered a few final thoughts.
He added that residents who clear hydrants and sidewalks near their homes greatly support winter operations.
Crews will continue working extended hours throughout the season to ensure Brockville remains safe and accessible for residents during their daily commute.
