The strike is now on its 10th day
Children’s Mental Health of Leeds and Grenville has temporarily suspended all client services as a labour strike involving unionized health and social service workers continues across the region.
The job action is part of an ongoing dispute involving members of OPSEU Local 441, who are seeking wage increases through collective bargaining.
The service disruption affects children, youth and families who rely on programs provided by the agency. No timeline has been announced for when services may resume.
Hundreds of workers from the three affected local agencies (CMHLG, BACLA and LLGAMH) gathered outside Brockville City Hall yesterday to show support for the strike and raise awareness about their demands. Union representatives say fair wages are needed to help attract and retain staff in the health and social services sector.
While Children’s Mental Health of Leeds and Grenville has suspended operations, Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health continues to provide some client services during the labour dispute.
