Construction planned to start in June 2027
The next phase of work on the new Brockville Correctional Centre (BCC) and the expanded St. Lawrence Valley Correctional and Treatment Centre (SLVCTC) is set to begin with the demolition of 10 buildings on the property.
The new facilities will rise on the site of the former Brockville Psychiatric Hospital, which also houses the current SLVCTC, Secure Treatment Unit, Brockville Mental Health Centre, and Forensic Treatment Unit.
The project will replace the 183-year-old Brockville Jail with a modern 250-bed correctional centre, while the SLVCTC will be expanded to include 25 women’s beds.
Design work is already underway and expected to be completed by summer 2026.
A request for proposals will be issued in fall 2026, with construction planned to start in June 2027. The site plan approval process with the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley will also begin this fall, according to provincial officials.
