Anyone who sees an animal in distress is asked to contact Provincial Animal Welfare Services at 1-833-9ANIMAL or local police, or call 911 in emergencies
The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society has launched its annual No Hot Pets campaign, urging pet owners across the province to protect animals during hot summer weather.
The campaign encourages people to take an online pledge at nohotpets.ca, promising never to leave pets unattended in vehicles. Officials warn that cars can heat up quickly, even on mild days, putting animals at serious risk within minutes. Participants are also entered into a draw for a YETI prize pack.
The SPCA says summer should focus on safe time with pets and encourages residents to share awareness messages on social media and use free online resources. The campaign also highlights dangers beyond vehicles, including pets left outside without shade or water.
