The cause of the fire remains undetermined
A residential structure fire in Augusta Township drew a large emergency response on Monday afternoon, with about 30 firefighters working to bring the blaze under control.
Augusta Fire Rescue said crews were dispatched to McIntosh Road at 1:39 p.m. on June 1, alongside the Prescott Fire Department and the Edwardsburgh Cardinal Fire Department. Under existing response agreements, Prescott provides first response coverage in the area, while Edwardsburgh Cardinal assists with water tanker support.
The first fire vehicle arrived at 1:48 p.m. and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of a home. Firefighters launched an aggressive attack and worked to contain the fire.
The blaze was declared under control at 2:52 p.m.
No injuries were reported among occupants or emergency responders.
Augusta Fire Rescue thanked the participating agencies, including the Ontario Provincial Police, Leeds and Grenville Paramedic Service and Ontario Hydro, for their assistance.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined. The incident is under investigation by Augusta Fire Rescue, the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office and the Ontario Provincial Police.
