The Brockville Fire Department launched its “Home Safety Awareness Program” on Tuesday, September 9, with firefighters set to visit neighbourhoods until September 20.
Chief Fire Prevention Officer Matt Tyo explained how the firefighters will be helping out.
Tyo stressed the importance of working smoke alarms.
He added that alarms usually expire after 10 years and should be checked regularly.
While the program is voluntary, Tyo said he recommends taking part.
Firefighters will be visiting both uptown and downtown Brockville.
The department is also preparing for another campaign, “Saved By The Beep,” on September 28.
