The Edwardsburgh Cardinal Firefighters Association has received an award from First Responders United for its ongoing support of mental health programs for first responders.
The association shared the news in a Facebook post Wednesday, saying it was “incredibly honoured” to be recognized for supporting the non-profit organization and its mission.
First Responders United provides therapeutic retreat programs and mental health support for first responders dealing with operational stress injuries and PTSD. The organization supports firefighters, paramedics, police officers, dispatchers, nurses and correctional officers through peer support and recovery programs.
The firefighters association said it donated more than $5,000 in 2025 to help fund the organization’s work. It credited members and community supporters for making the contribution possible through fundraising efforts held throughout the year.
The association also thanked First Responders United for the recognition and said continued community support is helping make a difference for first responders facing mental health challenges.
