In a farewell message, Savage thanked past curators, artists, students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors for helping shape the gallery’s legacy
The Marianne van Silfhout Gallery has officially closed its doors after 17 years of supporting artists, students and the wider community in Brockville.
Curator Heather Savage announced the completion of the gallery’s final clean-up over the weekend, marking the end of a space that hosted exhibitions, artist talks, receptions and student showcases.
Savage said the last tasks included removing vinyl lettering from the final student exhibition, Unfolding Directions, storing moveable wall panels and taking down tribute photographs from the gallery’s honorary Inspired wall.
The display recognized Andrea Mossop, inducted in 2024, Marg Grothier, inducted in 2016, Henry Vyfinkel, inducted in 2014, and gallery benefactor Marianne van Silfhout, who died in 2000.
In a farewell message, Savage thanked past curators, artists, students, faculty, staff, alumni and visitors for helping shape the gallery’s legacy.
She described the gallery as a place of learning, connection, recognition and community through the visual arts.
